We're a slow burn nation but I sense things are now moving towards excitement about King Charles's coronation.
The route is being scrubbed up, security has been tightened, our Armed Forces have rehearsed, well over a hundred Heads of State and government are coming in and tourists (foreign and local) are gathering.
It will be a big moment for the UK on the global stage, and although there are republicans few can deny that our new King has proved a prophet on the environment, architecture and climate change as well as having created a charity (The Prince's Trust) that's directly helped the lives of over a million people.
I would argue we're lucky indeed and was honoured to be with others in Westminster Hall yesterday to welcome the King and Queen. But whatever your views on the King there are celebrations, parties or events happening to join this weekend in Gloucester.
I'm sure we've missed a few so apologise to those I've left off, but here's a selection we have found:
There are fundays at Elim, St Paul and St. Stephen's, St. Barnabas and City Churches, a disco at Abbey Community Centre and a best dressed window competition run by the BiD: as per the collage.
Then there's lots of street parties (most on Sunday 7th May) and a big Cathedral service (ticket only) on Monday:
I hope every constituent has a very happy long weekend, celebrating a boost to community spirit.
P.S. if you know of an exciting event not included here do let me know on richard.graham.mp@parliament.uk and we'll add it to the website version of this enews
