Richard Graham, Gloucester’s MP from 2010-19 and Prospective Candidate for 2019 is delighted that detailed planning permission has been approved for the new city health centre on Quay Street, close to Shire Hall.
Richard said that, ‘Work on the site should start in the New Year and be finished in the Spring 2021, serving 18,000 patients.’
The County Council anticipate starting the project on site in the New Year, with plans for completion approximately 15 months later. This phase of the project will cost £16million to build the GP surgeries, including a pharmacy, with the aim that the health new centre will be operational by 2021.
“This has been part of my vision since I sketched out a bid submitted to the councils and GFirst LEP in 2013 for the regeneration of Blackfriars, alongside student accommodation for the University of Gloucestershire, and getting the health centre for local residents. It’s a key part of my plan for the broader regeneration of our city centre.” Richard added, “Improving GP access and the availability of appointments is critical, so local residents can look forward to high quality care in brand-new facilities in our city centre.”
