Last year, when volunteeering with the NHS I saw the Great Western Air Ambulance in action getting a Longlevens resident in an emergency to Southmead Hospital for specialist treatment.
Although all of us hope we won’t need such emergency help, you never know a and there will, occasionally, be someone in our community whose life will be saved by the GWAAC.
It is a charity - no government could afford to provide the NHS with a fleet of helicopters around the country -and so receive no day-to-day government, NHS or national lottery funding. So they rely on donations from people and foundations. If you’d like to know more and perhaps donate do look at https://greatwesternairambulance.com/donate/.
