The biggest city centre regeneration project right now is the Fleece Hotel. The site occupies much more space than most realise. And of course that includes the iconic 12th century under croft in its basement.
After sitting uselessly in Labour’s Regional Development Agency’s hands for a decade, I led getting this heritage asset of our city - along with others - transferred to the city council for virtually nothing. Now, finally, with help from the government’s Heritage Action Zone Fund, Gloucester City Council, @Dowdeswell Estates and Cllr Dawn Melvin have agreed a plan that sees a new Fleece Hotel rebuilt and much more besides on this site and linking to The Docks.
They said it couldn’t happen but it will. #KeepBelievingInGloucester
